Edinburgh's Ferry Road closed as cyclist rushed to hospital following crash

Edinburgh's Ferry Road has been closed to traffic following a crash which left a cyclist in hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, which also involved a motorbike, shortly after 5pm on Sunday.

Police shut the road and ambulance crews gave treatment to the cyclist before he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

It's unclear at the moment how serious the injuries are.

Police remain at the scene on Sunday evening, and a spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Sunday, 13 June, police were called to a road crash involving a pedal cyclist and a motorcyclist in Ferry Road, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the male pedal cyclist has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"Ferry Road is closed in both directions."
