Edinburgh's famous Harry Potter flat on 'real life Diagon Alley' seeks new owner

Edinburgh's famous Harry Potter themed flat on the city's real life "Diagon Alley" is seeking a new owner.

The property, located in a B-listed traditional building on West Bow, Grassmarket, is the ultimate homage to the Hogwarts boy wizard – and it's up for sale at offers over £210,000.

It was previously an Airbnb getaway and Edinburgh Live reported in 2019 how it was popular with fans of the blockbuster series both in Edinburgh and from further afield.

Inside the property one of the living room walls is covered with portraits, just like the halls of Hogwarts, while there's also a wizarding chest, antique books, a four-poster bed, a chandelier, a Diagon Alley sign and references to Gringots – the magical bank.

It also has a secret storage cupboard hidden behind a long mirror and hand-made shutters on every window. Entrance to the bedroom is via a "secret bookshelf door".

Having just hit the market this week, agent Warners say: "A superb opportunity has arisen to acquire a fabulous, magical-themed first floor apartment, within an un-paralleled location in the heart of Edinburgh's vibrant and historic Grassmarket area.

"Forming part of a B-listed traditional building, this truly unique and inspirational property features thoughtful design elements benefiting from carefully considered interior specification, and an acute attention to detail having been recently refurbished.

It has countless features referencing the legendary series (ESPC)

"Enjoying an enviable location at the bottom of Victoria Street, known locally as the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series, and a stone’s throw from all of Edinburgh’s major attractions."

The property comprises an open-plan living room and kitchen area, a double bedroom, a bathroom and entrance hallway. There is also permit parking, while entrance to the apartment is via Edmonstone's Close via West Bow, with a shared common stairwell.
