Edinburgh's City Bypass like a 'car park' after several incidents on Tuesday morning

Edinburgh's City Bypass has been likened to a "car park" on Tuesday morning after several incidents caused major disruption on the busy route.

Traffic Scotland reported news of an accident on the westbound route between Calder and Baberton shortly before 10am, and this comes after an earlier crash near Baberton which resulted in queues back to Lasswade and delays around Hermiston Gait.

During the morning rush hour it was taking traffic an estimated one hour and 20 minutes to get through the worst of the traffic.

Traffic Scotland admitted there have been "a lot" of incidents on the road, and at around 9.30am estimated delays to still be around 30-minutes between Sheriffhall and Dreghorn.

Twitter user Ample Viewpoint posted on social media to say that "it's like a car park today on the City Bypass, from Sheriffhall to Baberton".

The latest accident, between Calder and Baberton, has now been cleared but delays remain in the area.
