Edinburgh's cheapest petrol stations for March as Morrisons hits top five

As the cost of living crisis continues to rear its head in the UK, many people will be trying to keep spending down in any way possible.

One thing that tugs at the purse strings each month is the cost of fuel - whether it be petrol or diesel.

But to help keep fuel outgoings as low as possible, Edinburgh Live has racked up the latest research from Macklin Motors to find out the cheapest unleaded petrol and diesel prices within five miles of the capital. This was analysed using data from the Petrol Prices website.

The cheapest petrol stations in Edinburgh in March

Coming out once again on top is Costco in Loanhead, Edinburgh. Costco Loanhead is located on the outskirts of the city centre, offering fuel at 141.9p per litre and 155.9p per litre for unleaded petrol and diesel, respectively. However, these prices are only available for those with a Costco card.

There are still options for affordable fuel for those without a paid Costco membership. For petrol cars, ASDA Chesser Automat and the Morrisons in Gyle and Granton offer the cheapest fuel at 145.7p per litre.

The Morrisons on Ferry Road is only marginally more expensive at 145.8p per litre.

A Macklin Motors spokesperson commented on the research: “We all love to find new ways to save money at the petrol station, and, as our research shows, this can be as simple as finding the cheapest pumps in your area.

“You can also save money on fuel by tweaking your driving habits. Avoiding harsh acceleration, maintaining tyre pressure, and turning off the AC are just a few examples of how you can become more fuel efficient.

“By minimising any stress about fuel costs or consumption, you can get back to enjoying the open road.”
