Cameron Toll in Edinburgh is set for a new hotel and homes as part of a new development.

The City of Edinburgh Council validated the proposal from the developer Lady Road Investment SARL on Thursday November 18.

The developer submitted an early Proposal of Application Notice to Edinburgh council signalling their intention to start the planning process.

The planning application shows that they plan a ‘proposed redevelopment of Cameron Toll neighbourhood centre, to include residential and hotel uses along with improvements to public realm and improved pedestrian, cyclist routes within the site and associated landscaping.

Previously a new cinema and leisure complex was planned for the site but that appears to have been shelved.

They confirmed that copies of the Proposal of Application Notice were sent to Southside and Newington councillors and Liberton and Gilmerton ward councillors, And Liberton Community Council, Gilmerton and Inch Community Council and Grange and Prestonfield Community Council also received a copy.

Next up they intend to host two formal public consultation events, in the form of an in person public exhibition at Cameron Toll and an online exhibition.

The dates of these are to be confirmed and we will update the City of Edinburgh Council as soon as possible on this matter.

Edinburgh Live will bring you more news on the new proposal as they become available.
