Edinburgh's Caledonian hotel picks up best in Scotland award

Edinburgh Waldorf Astoria - The Caledonian hotel has been named Scotland's Leading Hotel in a public vote.

The Caledonian, known as The Caley, is situated on the West End of Princes Street and is popular with tourists and travelers.

Voted for by the public, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh was included in the shortlist of 11 hotels across Scotland before going on to win the award.

The hotel last picked up an award from the World Travel Awards in 2015, and has been shortlisted in a number of categories in the competitive awards.

Dale MacPhee, general manager of the hotel, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this mark of recognition from the World Travel Awards and grateful to all who voted!

“I feel extremely proud of our team who consistently work hard, even in these challenging times, to ensure every guest has a truly unforgettable experience at the hotel.”

The five star Edinburgh hotel reopened in July following the coronavirus lockdown for overnight stays, the first time it had ever been forced to close in its 117 year history.
