A popular Edinburgh restaurant group has been forced to close both of its eateries after the Scottish Government’s covid-19 test and protect system left them too short staffed to operate.
Bosses at Rollo said they had taken the difficult decision to temporarily close their Broughton and Stockbridge locations due to workers being picked up by the protocol designed to stop the spread of the disease.
The wine bar and eatery, which has locations on Broughton Street and Raeburn Place, are the latest foodie favourite to close over the past few days thanks to coronavirus-related issues.
Broughton Street neighbours The Ox, The Roseleaf in Leith, Elio's on George Street and One Canonmills had all made the call to close following positive test results last week.
Edinburgh Revolution on Chambers Street, Nobles on Constitution Street and Pizzeria 1926 in Dalry joined them on Saturday with case numbers remaining high in the Capital.
Figures from Public Health Scotland revealed a further 502 cases in the NHS Lothian health board area over the past 24 hours, with 283 of those originating in Edinburgh.
Over 2,300 new cases were confirmed across Scotland during the same reporting period.
ROLLO said customers with booking were being contacted to inform them of the shutdown, with hopes the restaurants could reopen by next Thursday.
A social media post read: “Unfortunately due to track and trace both restaurants are too short-staffed to operate.
"Both ROLLO Broughton and Stockbridge will be closed until July 15.
"We are trying our best to contact everyone with bookings ASAP."
