An Edinburgh couple were able to capture the moment when two Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoons zoomed over their home in the west of the capital.
The RAF Typhoon jets are understood to have left from Lossiemouth and flew over Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium to mark the start of the Scotland vs Japan Autumn international that took place earlier this afternoon.
The aircraft which can travel at a top speed of 2,495 km/h were captured flying over the home of Pauline and Carla Capaldi who live in the Carrick Knowe area of Edinburgh.
The couple were expecting a fly over all day and had been anticipating the event from their back garden.
On the fly over, they said: “We were watching for them to come as we love seeing fly pasts. We had been out in the garden since 12.45pm watching for them.
“I know it can be scary if you aren’t expecting it but we are always so impressed by them. Also impressed that they can reach Edinburgh from Lossiemouth so quickly.”
The RAF describes the aircraft as: “A highly capable and extremely agile fourth-generatoonm multi-role combat aircraft, capable of being deployed for the full spectrum of air operations, including air policing, peace support and high-intensity conflict.”
The fly past marked the start of the Scotland vs Japan international, where Scotland came away with the victory against the visitors.
Tries were scored by Van der Merwe, Hogg, D Graham, and McInally in the 29-20 victory.
Scotland's next round of fixtures will be the Six Nations in February of next year.
