Edinburgh resident left furious after dirty caravan dumped outside their house

A shocked Craigmount resident awoke on Friday morning to find a dirty old caravan on her street.

The mobile home was dumped in the early hours of the morning by a car and it is believed the culprit had been captured on a neighbours CCTV with the footage being shared with the relevant authorities.

The caravan, which would not look out of place on the set of Breaking Bad, was left open and contained several cushions on the inside.

It is understood that a good samaritan had offered to collect and tow the caravan in their car on Saturday morning but that the mobile home was still there by the afternoon.

A resident who wished to remain anonymous said: “Hopefully someone will come and lift it before it gets set on fire and causes a larger problem. It has just been dumped on the corner of Craigmount Place.

“I believe a neighbour on Craigmount Avenue North was able to get footage of the caravan being towed by a car in the middle of the night. I really do hope they are caught.

“Flytipping in our area has become a real issue, especially when you look at Cammo.”

Another resident said on social media that the mobile home looked eerily similar to “Father Ted’s holiday caravan.”

The incident has been reported to the council who are understood to be looking into the issue.

A City of Edinburgh Council spokesperson said: “It is always disappointing to see flytipping spoiling the city.

“The selfish actions of a few can really affect those living in a local community. We urge anyone who knows anything about this caravan or spots people fly tipping to contact the council directly.”
