Edinburgh Remakery confirms new home after closing Ocean Terminal store

A popular social enterprise which aims to promote a culture of repair and reuse has announced it is returning to Leith Walk.

The award-winning Edinburgh Remakery offers creative and accessible workshops as well as refurbishing old electronics to sell on at affordable prices or gift for free to disadvantaged communities.

It's currently based at Ocean Terminal but confirmed in a post on its official Facebook page that it would soon be moving back to Leith Walk.

The team wrote: "That’s right, as of June, we will be moving into cushty new premises in the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, right at the bottom of the walk and back in the heart of Leith, right where we belong.

"This move has been in the works for some time now and, over the coming weeks and months, you’ll notice some changes as we gradually shift all our services over to Kirkgate."

Adding that they were putting together a "Master Plan" to ensure this causes as little disruption as possible, they confirmed that people will still be able to continue to shop with them, donate to them and attend workshops with them.

Other services such as hiring sewing machines from us, and booking 1:1 repair appointments will also remain available throughout the process of the move.

They also shared an image of Ops Manager, Sotiris, at the new premises as well as a sneak peek, adding: "More will be shared on this in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for more details very soon."
