Edinburgh ready to work from home amid ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic

A new study has shown that Edinburgh is the best place in Scotland to work remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic: in fact, we're more ready than Glasgow.

With the Scottish Government's announcement that up to 80% of the population could become infected with the virus, employers have been encouraged to have their colleagues working from home to limit exposure.

In the study by RingCentral, Edinburgh proved it is prepared for remote working, ranking top in Scotland and 7th in the UK, with 2,497 remote working opportunities in the capital.

Just behind Edinburgh was Glasgow with 2,928 opportunities available, with London taking the top spot.

The research was compiled by analysing cities where you are most likely to find a remote working job on the search site Indeed.com.

Roles such as business development, letting agents and sales executives are most likely to offer a remote working option for employees.

With the number of cases in Scotland and NHS Lothian rising, employers are likely to ask staff to work from home if possible.

The current number of cases in the Lothians stands at eight, with an update from the Scottish Government due at 2pm this afternoon.
