Popular Edinburgh pub the Cask and Barrel has been transformed for the filming of Good Omens 2.

Film crews have been spotted bustling around Newington over the past couple of days, and filming took place at the old pub and on streets surrounding.

The pictures show the filming taking place on a dreich day in the city with grey skies in the background, the road is partially cornered off as film crew stand around and a cherry picker crane is nearby to capture shots from different angles.

Local resident Diarmid Mogg captured the filming and shared it to Twitter captioned: "I see they’re filming in West Preston Street today.

"The Cask and Barrel’s had its name changed to The Resurrectionist, so I guessed it might be an updating of Burke and Hare, but it turns out to be Good Omens 2."

The tweet gathered over 100 likes with a number of residents excited about the activity in the area. The fantasy comedy series is based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel of the same name.

The popular show stars John Hamm and David Tenant, late last year the Dr Who star was spotted filming in the West End also for the second series of the show.
