Edinburgh pub manager gave inside information to gang before £77,000 robbery and attack on worker

An Edinburgh bar manager was given inside information that led to a £77,000 robbery last August.

Aiden Kelly, 30, was the deputy general manager at the Biddy Mulligans pub in the Grassmarket last year.

On August 25, a pub worker Eric Drought was attacked late at night by three men in balaclavas whilst depositing cash from the pubs in an RBS night safe in St Andrews Square.

A total of £77,275 was taken from the G1 group worker, who own pubs such as the Three Sisters and Biddy Mulligans.

Prosecutor Derick Nelson told the High Court in Glasgow that the gang were "given inside information" by Aiden Kelly before the attack on Eric Drought and subsequent robbery.

The gang have been named as Steven Batten, 25, Jordan Craig, 26, Dale Thomson, 25 and an unknown associate.

The four men have admitted to an assault and robbery charge and are due to be sentenced next month.
