Edinburgh pub Brass Monkey to open a second venue in Leith next week

A much-loved pub in Leith is opening its second site in the area next week.

The Brass Monkey, Edinburgh's 'biggest local' on Leith Walk, announced on Instagram that they are set to open a second site on Queen Charlotte Street next week, in what was formerly The Compass.

The 'Brass Monkey Shore' pub will take over the large site from the middle of next week and their drink offering will cover all bases; from local independent breweries and distilleries to household name beers and wines.

They'll also be serving up good quality pub food, following the Leith Walk branch's menu of burgers, nachos and more.

Brass Monkey owner Martin Proudler, who is opening up the new venue with business partner Scott Nicol, told Edinburgh Live that: "The new site lends itself brilliantly to social distancing due to its layout and size and we're hoping to make the restaurant area of the venue more inclusive of a drink atmosphere.

"We're lucky that The Compass did such an incredible job in the site and we wouldn't be able to open as soon as we are aiming to if it wasn't for the foundation they set.

"Expect good quality simple bar food if you fancy a bite to eat and pub quizzes as soon as they're legally allowed to take place."
