Edinburgh pub boss was inside man for gang's £77,000 RBS nightsafe raid

A bar manager gave inside information that led to a violent £77,000 robbery.

Aidan Kelly, 30, was deputy general manager at Biddy Mulligans pub in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket.

Takings were collected from it and other G1 Group bars last August 25.

Pub worker Eric Drought was attacked by three men in balaclavas as he put a bag with £77,275 in an RBS night safe in Edinburgh.

The gang were Steven Batten, 25, Jordan Craig, 26, Dale Thomson, 26, and an unknown associate.

Prosecutor Derick Nelson told the High Court in Glasgow that Batten “was given inside information” by Kelly.

The four named men yesterday admitted an assault and robbery charge and will be sentenced next month.
