An Edinburgh pub boss has asked 'why the f*** do we bother' after 33 customers failed to show up for their bookings at the venue last night.
Teuchters in Edinburgh's West End (the sister venue of Teuchters Landing in Leith) shared this morning that a third of customers who had bookings during the England v Italy Euros 2020 match last night did not turn up.
Due to the bookings not cancelling their reservations in advance and instead choosing to simply not show up, staff at the popular pub turned away walk in customers who would have otherwise been able to sit in.
The pub wrote on Facebook: "Been sitting on this all last night and this morning - take bookings they advise and going against everything we have ever done before, we did.
"Sunday evening fully booked, apologies to all who we turned down. 24 tables available, 6 no show tables, 25% of our capacity under current guidelines.
"This equated to 33 customers who said they were coming, 33% of our seating capacity under current guidelines.
"The rant in my head says so much more but simply put, why the f*** do we bother sometimes?
"Football didn’t come home last night but it was close. To all who were with us, the vast majority being England fans, we hope you were well looked after and although the result didn’t go your way we hope you did in some way enjoy your evening."
One Facebook user commented: "This really isn't fair on pubs. You guys have been through a difficult enough time as it is. Hopefully a solution is found."
