Edinburgh Property: Time-warp colonies flat in need of serious renovation hits market

It's no secret that the Edinburgh colony flats have always been a popular spot to buy, however the latest one to hit the market may need a bit of TLC.

The two bedroom upper-villa in Haymarket is currently on the market for offers over £240,000, which is a significantly lower price than most of its neighbours.

However, the property comes with a bit of work attached, with the majority of the interior sitting in a slightly neglected time warp.

With some serious potential, the property lies over two floors and is part of the listed category two development, coming complete with two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Accessed by a series of external stone steps, the flat has its own front door and a private garden also to the front of the property.

On the first floor lies the living area, kitchen and one of the bedrooms, all of which have been stripped back to the floor boards and feature some rather dated wallpaper.

The kitchen will also require almost an entire refit, with the new owners able to put a spin that is entirely their own on the property.

Upstairs lies the master bedroom and attic bathroom, both of which again have been uninhabited for some time and require some renovation.

However, despite the dated interior, ESPC have stated they believe the site will be snapped up due to its potential and ideal location.

A description wrote: "The building is a listed Category 2 forming part of a traditional stone built colony row. The property has its own main door and private garden to the front. Douglas Terrace is ideally located within the vibrant Haymarket area at the West End of Edinburgh.

"The property is within walking distance of an abundance of amenities, Haymarket Railway Station and tram stop providing quick and easy access to Edinburgh Airport. Given how rare these properties come available we would recommend an early viewing."
