Craigroyston Primary in Muirhouse alerted locals to the discovery on Monday.

The needs were found in an park area near Cleghorn Road, which is also near the Oaklands School for children with learning difficulties.

Edinburgh city council's environmental services team have been called in to clean up the area.

Craigroyston Primary posted on Facebook saying: "Alert - We have been advised that some needles have been left in the park near Cleghorn Road.

"Environmental services are aware. Please take care."
