Edinburgh police want help identifying two young men after afternoon assault

Two men are being hunted by police in connection with an assault which took place in Edinburgh last year.

Police have released CCTV images of the individuals they want to speak to in connection with the incident on Montgomery Street, between Elm Row and Easter Road, which happened at 1.30pm on Monday, September 2.

They say both men may be able to assist with their ongoing enquiries.

One of the men is white and in his late 20s to early 30s. He has short dark hair, stubble and was wearing casual clothing. The other man is white, in his mid 20s, around 6ft to 6ft 4ins tall and of slim build with fair hair. He was wearing a grey jumper, dark bottoms and a black body warmer.

Detective Constable Philip Wright of Gayfield CID said " As part of the investigation, we are eager to identify the two men in the CCTV footage and would urge them, or anyone who recognises them, to get in touch with us immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1528 of the September 2 2020, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
