A police vehicle carrying armed officers and a tour bus have been involved in a crash in Edinburgh's city centre.

The collision happened at St Andrew Square, close to the Wagamama restaurant, around 5.30pm.

Photos show officers speaking to the bus driver, with some police on-board the bus, as tourists sit waiting on the top deck.

Multiple police cars are in the area, with a number of officers on the scene dealing with the incident.

One lane, used for turning right and heading down towards Queen Street, was blocked off as a result.

Police say they are currently in attendance at the incident, with ambulance crews also on the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a road crash involving a police vehicle and a bus at St Andrew Square in Edinburgh.

“The incident happened shortly after 5.25pm on Tuesday, 27 July and officers are currently at the scene with the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
