Edinburgh police urge people to report stolen Just Eat bikes - which flash distinctively

Police are urging members of the public to report bicycles which have been stolen from Edinburgh's cycle hire scheme.

The Just Eat bikes were first introduced in 2018 and are available to hire via an app. Hundreds are now on the streets of the capital, though occasionally they have been targets for vandalism.

Each bike can track its location and can be locked remotely. When they are stolen the front lights will flash blue and red.

Police in the south east of Edinburgh asked those who see the flashing lights to report the incident.

They said: "What may looks like cool disco lights are actually the signs of a stolen Just Eat bike!! If you see someone riding one which is flashing away like this, give us a call."
