Edinburgh police stop driver 'trying to milk it' after overloading van by nearly 1000kg

Edinburgh police have won the Internet today after a run-in with a diver "trying to milk it for all it's worth".

Road policing officers from the motorcycle unit were patrolling roads in Edinburgh earlier today when they came across an "ambitious" driver who had overloaded their van.

Officers opened up the vehicle to find it stacked full of milk and say, in this case, the driver had made a "grave miscowculation"...we see what you did there.

After weighing the load, they found was the vehicle was overloaded by nearly 1000kg and have since reported the driver to the procurator fiscal.

A statement from the unit on Twitter said: "This driver was trying to milk it for all it’s worth by ambitiously overloading their van, making a grave miscowculation!

"#NationalMotorcycleUnit stopped it in Edinburgh earlier today, which when weighed was found to be 25% overweight, nearly 1000kg over!! Driver reported to PF."

Earlier today, police in West Lothian Police seized a car which was found with tyres so bald the internal wires were showing.

They also found it was uninsured and had no vehicle tax paid. The driver has been charged over the vehicle.
