Edinburgh police shut down busy city street after two-car crash

A crash involving two cars in Edinburgh resulted in a road closure for up to an hour, as emergency services raced to the scene.

The accident occurred on Newtoft Street, and was just off of Drum Street, as the Edinburgh Police Twitter account posted an update to their followers.

The Tweet read: "Newtoft Street, Edinburgh is currently closed at Drum Street, Edinburgh due to a road traffic collision."

Since then, there has been confirmation that there has been no injuries sustained during the accident, but the Scottish Ambulance Service did attend.

The road has since reopened, and traffic is moving at a normal rate again.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to the report of a two vehicle crash on Newtoft Street, Edinburgh, around 2.15pm on Friday, 13 August. Emergency services attended and the road was closed but re-opened around 3pm.”
