Edinburgh police seal off part of Leith street as man dies after 'taking ill'

Police raced to a street in Edinburgh earlier today following reports of a man taking ill.

Emergency services were called to Wellington Place, in Leith, this morning shortly before 10am.

The street remains sealed off this afternoon and police have now confirmed that a man died at the scene.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal but police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 9.50am on Sunday, 18 October, 2020 following the report of man taking unwell on Wellington Place, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
