Edinburgh police release images of man in connection with George Street assault

Police in Edinburgh have released images of a man they want to trace in connection with a city centre assault at the start of the festive season.

Officers believe the individual, captured by CCTV cameras on George Street, could help their investigation into the incident in the early hours of Wednesday, December 1.

Police have kept details of the incident under wraps, but a presence was called to the busy bar-lined street shortly after 3am.

Inquiries remain ongoing and officers are now desperate to speak to the man pictured below.

The man is described as white, around five foot eight inches tall in height and of slim build with short, dark hair.

He was thought to be wearing a dark baseball cap, grey shirt, white-t-shirt, dark trousers and white trainers at the time of the incident.

Officers are now urging anyone with information on the man to come forward and share it with investigators.
