Edinburgh police race to George Square after 'assault and robbery' near university

Edinburgh police raced to George Square on Saturday, after reports of an 'assault and robbery' near the university.

One person was rushed to hospital following the incident, that took place in the centre of Edinburgh around 5.35pm on Saturday evening.

Police have launched a full investigation.

In photos sent to Edinburgh Live, officers can be seen taping off the area of the incident, and police vans are shown lining the street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a report of robbery and assault that occurred at George Square, Edinburgh, around 5.35pm on Saturday, 6 November.
