Edinburgh police race to block of flats beside school as ongoing incident unfolds

Emergency services have raced to the scene of an ongoing incident in Edinburgh.

Four police cars, two police vans and two ambulances are pictured at the scene on Primrose Street in Leith at around 3pm on Tuesday - just yards away from Leith Academy.

The area has been cordoned off by police while emergency services attend the incident.

By 3.30pm, on Tuesday June 6, schoolchildren were swarming the area but were getting ushered away by officers

An eyewitness said: "They’ve cordoned off the whole of Primrose Street now and everyone’s been moved on, just residents allowed in.

"It looked like residents of the building were being interviewed by police, dozens of schoolchildren standing around watching and another police van showed up when we got moved on."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.30pm on Tuesday, 6 June, we were called to a report of a man injured in the Primrose Street area of Edinburgh.“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
