Edinburgh police race to busy main road after car smashes into barrier

Edinburgh police have appealed for information after a car smashed into the barrier of a busy main road on Tuesday.

Emergency services had raced to the scene on Wester Hailes Road on January 11 at around 6.45pm after reports were made of a two-car crash.

Images from the scene had shown a blue Ford Fiesta that had been forced to mount the verge near the Wester Hailes Education Centre, hitting the barrier.

The main body of the car appeared to be severely dented along the right hand side, with extensive damage at the rear of the vehicle.

Police confirmed no injuries came as a result of the crash, but have appealed to the public for further information.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.45pm on Tuesday, 11 January, to a report of two vehicle crash in Wester Hailes Road, Edinburgh.

"There were no reported injuries.

“Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information that could help, including dash-cam footage, is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 2651 of Tuesday, 11 January.”
