Edinburgh police probe recovers pack of stolen motorbikes worth thousands

Police in Edinburgh have shared images of a host of stolen motorbikes they were able to recover.

An operation carried out by officers in the north of the city saw a series of "proactive" patrols take place in and around the Drylaw area this week.

According to police, a patrol by the Local Initiative Team saw six large and expensive motorbikes discovered in the area surrounding Marine Drive.

After investigating the stolen bikes, the total group value of the vehicles came to an astonishing £20,000.

Now safely back in the correct hands, officers stated that the bikes would go on to be reunited with their original owners.

A tweet from Edinburgh Police said: "Officers from Drylaw's Local Initiative Team carried out proactive patrols in the Marine Drive area this morning and recovered 6 motorbikes valued at approximately £20,000.

"The bikes are in the process of being reunited with their owners."

It is not the first time a number of motorbikes have been stolen in and around the city, after thieves snatched a large scooter from a garden in Corstorphine this week.

Thankfully reunited with the bike a few days later, the family had been left terrified after the group stole the bike from their property as they slept on Tuesday night.
