Edinburgh police patrol busy retail park following reports of antisocial behaviour

Police in the south west of Edinburgh have been patrolling a busy retail park following reports of antisocial behaviour.

Officers were seen at Hermiston Gait following recent incidents and carried out high visibility patrols. As well as the retail park, police also received similar reports in the Longstone area.

Posting on Twitter, Police Scotland said: "Following reports of Anti Social Behaviour at Hermiston Gait Retail Park and Longstone, South West Edinburgh Community Officers have carried out high visibility foot patrols.

"Report ASB to us, and we will do our best to patrol area to detect and deter."

In April we reported how officers were carrying out patrols at another retail park in the capital linked to antisocial behaviour. Police uploaded a tweet saying they had been forced to visit Craigleith due to a rise in crime.

At the time, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We know that anti-social behaviour has a disruptive effect on local communities and will act on any information we receive. We will take appropriate action where incidents are reported and offenders identified.

“Officers regularly carry out patrols in areas highlighted to us and anyone who has concerns about anti-social behaviour in their area is encouraged to contact police by calling 101 as promptly as possible."

An image uploaded by officers also shows a police car parked on the corner of Longstone Park, a ten minute drive from Hermiston Gait Retail Park.
