Edinburgh police launch urgent bid to trace man missing from Morningside

Police have launched an urgent appeal to trace a man missing from Edinburgh since last week in the run up to Christmas.

Steven Hunter was seen in the Morningside area of the capital on the afternoon of Saturday, December 18 - but has since failed to make contact with friends or family members.

Fears have been raised over Mr Hunter’s welfare, with officers now asking the public for their assistance in tracing him.

The 41-year-old is described as being white, around 5’7 in height with a stocky build and ‘average length’ brown hair.

He was understood to be wearing blue jeans, a dark blue jacket and a surgical face mask covering the lower half of his face when last seen at around 3:20pm on Saturday.

Inspector Mailer of Howdenhall Police Station urged anyone with information on Mr Hunter's current whereabouts to come forward as soon as possible.

He said: “We are growing concerned for Steven’s welfare and are seeking the public’s help in tracing him."

Inspector Mailer added: "Anyone who has seen Steven or who has any information is asked to contact police by calling 101 quoting incident 2479 of 18/12/2021."
