Emergency services had raced to the scene near Coupar Street in Leith at around 7.55am on Saturday (April 10), after the reports had been made to the authorities.

Police, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics had been seen at the scene, with enquiries now ongoing into the sudden death.

The body has been confirmed as male, however no further details have been given at this point regarding his identity.

Speaking in a statement today, Police Scotland said they are looking into the sudden death, with a report to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, reports the Record.

“The body was recovered from the water and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
