Edinburgh police launch bid to trace West Lothian teenager who may be in Capital

A teenager missing from West Lothian has sparked an immediate police search over concerns she may have travelled to Edinburgh.

Sophie Kerr, also known as Sophie Haywood, was last seen in the Howden area of Livingston on Thursday afternoon but is believed to have made her way to the Capital.

The 19-year-old has not been traced since 4pm on September 23 and fears are now growing for her welfare after she failed to contact friends or family members.

A search appeal has now been launched to locate the woman, with officers calling on the public to assist in their search.

Sophie is described as being white, around 5’4 tall with a “very slim build,” according to police.

She had short, dark hair and fair complexion and was wearing a blue and white patterned hooded top with peach and white striped leggings and white Adidas trainers with pink stripes at the time of her disappearance.

Sergeant Gillian Ross said: “As time passes since Sophie was last seen, our concerns for her welfare continue to grow.

“We are asking for anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts, or who may have seen her in the Livingston or Edinburgh areas, to please come forward urgently."

Sgt Ross added: "If you have any information, call police on 101, quoting incident 2618 of 23 September.”
