Edinburgh police issue warning after local woman followed to cemetery by 'suspicious' man

Police in Edinburgh have appealed for witnesses after a local woman was followed in the city centre.

Officers are now investigating the incident which occurred when a 22-year-old woman was out for a walk in Dalry on Sunday (March 21).

While walking her dog in broad daylight, the young woman was passing Dalry Cemetery when she became aware of a man following her.

After beginning to feel concerned, the woman then began to speak to another woman inside the cemetery, which caused the man to move away in the direction of Dundee Street.

Due to his suspicious actions , officers are now carrying out enquiries to establish whether there was any criminality and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

A statement from the Edinburgh Police Devision today stated:

"He is described as a white male, 5ft 8, of slim build, a tattoo of letters under left eye and wearing all black clothing with hood up.

"Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3479 of 21 March. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
