Edinburgh police issue update on missing teen last seen outside Holyrood Palace

Police in Edinburgh are re-appealing for information that could help trace missing teenager Danny Brunton, from Port Seton.

It was previously reported that the last sighting of Danny, 17, was on Sunday, May 29, in the Castle Avenue area of Edinburgh.

Officers have now issued an update based on enquiries carried out, revealing that Danny was last sighted at 12:30pm on Monday, May 30, at Abbey Strand, the small lane that leads to the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The teenager has been missing since Sunday, with concern growing for his welfare as officers are asking members of the public to check their garages and out-buildings.

Danny is described as around 5ft 7in tall, of a slim build with shoulder-length dark blonde hair. When last seen, he was wearing a black Adidas/Nike rain jacket, grey jogging bottoms and a black rucksack. He is believed to be wearing either black sliders or white converse shoes.

Sergeant Eric Dickson of Musselburgh police station said: “As time passes, our concern for Danny’s welfare continues to grow.

“From our enquiries we believe Danny has passed through Tranent, Prestonpans and Musselburgh and that he is now in Edinburgh.

“We are working extensively to try and find Danny and I would ask anyone in these areas to check garages, sheds, and outbuildings for any signs of him.

“I would also ask anyone with a dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell camera to check your footage for anything of relevance that might help us with our enquiries.

“Danny is vulnerable and may feel apprehensive about speaking with members of the public, so if you see him please contact police immediately rather than approaching him.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0994 of Monday, 30 May, 2022.

An updated image of Danny has also been released by Police Scotland as the initial image was dated from two years ago.
