Almost 40 Edinburgh pubs and restaurants have been visited by police conducting Covid compliance checks this week.
Edinburgh Police confirmed news of the activity throughout Leith on Thursday, with the aim to ensure businesses and customers are complying "with the high standards required of them".
Earlier this week Leith Community Cops confirmed they had visited ten premises in one day, before confirming that the number had risen to 36 across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sharing the news on social media, they said: "#LeithCommunityCops have conducted (36) licensed premises inspections throughout the wider Leith area over the last 3 days. We will continue visiting and engaging with licensed premises throughout the summer #KeepingPeopleSafe."
Edinburgh Live understands compliance with the restrictions has been good and officers are happy that members of the public, staff, and management all doing what is expected of them in these tough times.
Sergeant Elaine McArthur-Kerr said officers will continue to patrol the area and support partners in the licensing trade.
She said: "With restrictions continuing to ease, it's great to see the Leith area returning to a more normal way of life. Our officers continue to patrol the area to ensure the safety of those visiting and enjoying the hospitality sector.
"We are supporting our partners in the licensing trade to provide Covid compliant services and are engaging with the public to ensure compliance on their part as well."
