The massive gathering was shut down by police last year when the capital was in Level 4 of restrictions which only allowed up to four adults from two households to meet locally in any outdoor space, including in private gardens, for social and recreational purposes as well as exercise.
Last year due to Covid pandemic restrictions were introduced across Scotland limiting the number of people and households that could socialise both indoors and outdoors.
Throughout Police Scotland attended many incidents where members of the public ignored the laws put in place and continued to party throughout with large numbers of people attending.
Across the country more than 125,000 people were caught taking part in illegal gatherings during the pandemic – including an 82-year-old gran.
The figures obtained by the Sunday Mail show 973 arrests were made and 17,000 fixed penalty notices issued, totalling just over £1million.
A further 939 people were issued with the £60 on-the-spot fines for breaching lockdown travel regulations.
The figures cover the period from March 2020 to October 25 last year.
Assistant Chief Constable Alan Speirs said: “This has been a significantly challenging period for policing but as a national service, we were able to flex resources across the country to maintain the high levels of service our communities expected.”
