Edinburgh Police and ambulance race to an ongoing incident at Saughton Park

A heavy police presence and an ambulance has been spotted at Saughton Park in the West of the city this afternoon.

Pictures obtained by Edinburgh Live show police cars and an ambulance racing to what appears to be the entrance of the park.

Another picture shows an ambulance driving away from the scene being escorted by a police car.

An eyewitness said online: "Three police cars and an ambulance just arrived at Saughton Park - ambulance now away with a police escort."

According to the onlooker, the incident took place at around 2.30pm this afternoon (Saturday 4 July) and three police cars are still currently still at the scene.

UPDATE: Edinburgh Live can confirm that a 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital after having an 'unknown substance thrown' in his face.
