Edinburgh plush new 'eco-housing' development would have 75 homes and shops

Locals in Edinburgh are invited to a consultation on a plush new housing development with retail units.

The developers, CCG Construction, plan to build 75 new homes with four commercial units for retail use at the site at Waterfront Avenue in Granton.

The City of Edinburgh Council, working in partnership with CCG Construction, is preparing proposals for the development of the site adjacent to the former Granton Railway station.

The council ordered the developers to host a pre-planning consultation Q&A digital event for this week.

Local residents are asked to join in and have their say at the online consultation on Thursday May 27 from 2pm to 5pm.

Edinburgh Live reported last year that the £1.3 billion transformation of Granton Waterfront is hoped to build 3,500 new homes in the capital.

Now, the second phase of the council led development to a provide vibrant mixed tenure homes is set to begin.

Speaking last year, Councillor Adam McVey, leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, commented: “We’ve made a commitment to become a net-zero carbon city by 2030 and the regeneration of Granton offers the perfect opportunity to showcase how this can be delivered.

“We are committed to working with the local community and partners to create vibrant new neighbourhoods where people live and travel and grow the economy in an eco-friendly way.”
