Edinburgh Playhouse The Lion King: How to get tickets to Disney musical

Disney's beloved musical The Lion King will be playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse next year as the only Scottish stop on its UK tour.

The new tour, which will celebrate the show's 20th anniversary since premiering in London, features a cast that includes Stephenson Ardern-Sodje as Simba, Nokwanda Khuzwayo as Nala, Thandazile Soni as Rafiki and Jean-Luc Guizonne as Mufasa.

Rounding out the main cast are Alan Mchale, Carl Sanderson, Matthew Forbes, and EastEnders actor Richard Hurst.

The award-winning musical is based on the smash hit 1994 Disney animated film of the same name, and features music by Elton John.

Since Edinburgh is currently the only Scottish stop announced on the tour, fans from around the country will be looking to book tickets to the show during its time in the capital.

With tickets going on sale today (December 3), here is everything you need to know about The Lion King at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

When is The Lion King playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse?

The Lion King will play on dates from June 2 to July 2 2022 at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

How long does the show last?

The show will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes long, including an interval.

Which seats are left?

Since tickets just went up today (December 3), seats for The Lion King are plentiful.

However, they are already being snapped up faster than you might think, with some seating sections in the opening week already close to selling out.

If you want to ensure you get a good seat when The Lion King comes to Edinburgh, book as soon as possible.

How much are tickets?

This will depend greatly on which night you choose to attend, and how many seats are available by the time you book.

Looking at the first Saturday of the show, on June 4, prices start at just £20 and go all the way up to £120 depending on where you sit.

The cheapest seats are available on the upper level of the balcony, far away from the stage, and in general become more expensive the closer you are to the actors.

The priciest seats are those located in the Circle, where you should be expecting to pay upwards of £100.

Where can I get tickets?

You can buy tickets to The Lion King either through Disney or the Edinburgh Playhouse's box office.
