The Edinburgh Playhouse has been evacuated mid-show tonight as crowds of people who were attending a show have had to be removed from the premises.
A performance of 'Shagged, Married, Annoyed' was only a quarter of an hour in when the emergency alarm sounded, and people were instructed to leave the theatre.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Rachel who was attending the show, said: "We are here seeing Shagged Married Annoyed, and it had already been rescheduled twice due to COVID, and then in September because the safety curtain was faulty.
"The show had only been on for about 10/15 minutes when the emergency alarm came on and we all had to evacuate.
"We're all standing outside and there's a fire engine.

"I don't think it's a real fire, no sign of smoke. Currently standing outside awaiting updates."
Rachel also tweeted the scene live, stating: "You couldn't make this up. @4pmWineTimeBaby 10 minutes in, after being rescheduled multiple times due to COVID and a faulty safety curtained, and @edinplayhouse is evacuated."
Video footage of the scene shows well over a hundred people spilling out onto the streets of Edinburgh, looking visibly confused at what is going on.
Another show-goer said: "We decided to grab a pint because it is so cold, word has spread quickly that it was a false alarm, so time for a drink!"

A further attendee wasn't so calm, stating: "It was so scary to suddenly have to leave, when you are all having to evacuate that quickly in such a large crowd."
Reports from the scene have now confirmed that the crowd are now being filtered back in, and the show will continue.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
