Edinburgh plans for Abercrombie and Fitch in former Jack Wills building on George Street

Abercrombie and Fitch could soon open in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, with plans for the new store currently being reviewed by Edinburgh City Council.

If approved, the American fashion retailer would open up at the former Jack Wills store at 65 George Street. Although Abercrombie and Fitch have a presence down south, this would be their only shop in Scotland.

Documents submitted to the council now show the plans for the unit - which occupies a listed building - as well as new-look store front.

The application states: "This statement has been prepared in support of applications for Listed Building Consent and Advertising Consent, in respect of the refurbishment of the existing 2 storey unit at 65 George Street.

"The site was formerly occupied by Jack Wills and it is intended to be taken in possession by Abercrombie & Fitch.

"The existing unit comprises a ground floor entrance & sales areas with a substantially larger basement floor below."

The unit has lay vacant since Jack Wills' closure.

Abercrombie and Fitch have stores in London, Manchester and Ashford - as well as dozens more across the globe - but the George Street unit would be their northernmost store in the UK.
