Edinburgh pervert who took part in horrific abuse of teen with ex band manager jailed

A sex predator who took part in the horrific abuse of a vulnerable teenager with former Bay City Rollers manager Tam Paton has been jailed.

The sickening attack took place at a boozy party at Paton’s home on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

The victim, now a 60-year-old grandfather, was aged just 16 at the time report the Record.

He said four or five adults were present, including the pair who preyed on him, along with about a dozen youngsters aged between 13 and 17.

He told the High Court in Edinburgh that he ended up naked in a sauna with Wilson and Paton where cannabis resin was burning and they molested him.

The man said he was “stoned” at the time and added: “I had taken a pill provided by Tam Paton to sober me up.” He said he believed it was a sedative to relax him.

He said that when he was in the sauna he was “not in control”. “I couldn’t physically get up at one stage, as far as I recall,” he told the court..

He also remembered being in Paton’s bedroom where he was subjected to indecent assaults by the pair.

The man said he was like “a rag doll” and the men continued to abuse him and that it seemed to last forever, until there was a commotion outside the room.

Wilson, 81, formerly of McNeill Terrace, Loanhead, in Midlothian, had denied the sexual assault on the teenager at Paton’s home, but was convicted of the offence and another nine sex offences spanning more than half a century by a jury yesterday.

He was found guilty of indecently assaulting the teenager on an occasion between September 1978 and September the following year while acting with Tam Paton, now deceased, and did while the victim was intoxicated with alcohol and drugs and incapable or giving or withholding consent, touch his body, masturbate him and penetrate his anus with their penises.

Wilson, who was nicknamed Sticky, was also found guilty of committing a further indecent assault on a 15-year-old boy at Paton’s home in 1980.

He met Paton during the time of the Bay City Rollers and remained “pally” with Paton until his death in 2009.

He went on to perpetrate sex offences against a further three males and raped one of the men when he was intoxicated at his home in Loanhead in 2019 after he had been freed on bail at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier that year.

He was convicted of three offences of indecent conduct towards children, six of indecent assault and one of rape.

The trial judge, Lord Summers, placed him on the sex offenders’ register and remanded in custody for the preparation of a background report ahead of sentencing next month.
