Edinburgh pensioner praised for 'psychic' powers after predicting all Six Nations results

An Edinburgh pensioner has wowed her other care home residents after predicting all of the Six Nations wins.

Amazing Ann Steel, 86, may be a threat to the bookies after she correctly guessed which side would be victorious in each of the matches so far.

Ann, a huge rugby fan, has now placed her predictions on this weekend's games and is looking forward to watching them at her care home in South Beechwood.

In her latest round of claims, she has foreseen that Ireland and England will win in the coming days.

Commenting on her spooky predictions, Ann said: “I just have a feeling who will win, and so far, that feeling has been right! I also had Scotland down to win against France - I’m hoping they still do when the match is re-scheduled.”

Although born in England, Ann has always been a committed supporter of Scottish rugby, and has encouraged her own family to take an interest in the sport. She regularly visited Murrayfield Stadium with son, Richard, and her grandson previously played for Dunfermline Rugby Club.

Since moving into Murrayside, the team have gone above and beyond to support Ann’s love of rugby, decorating the cinema room with flags ahead of each match. Prior to the pandemic, residents also visited the Oriam, at Riccarton, where they met members of the Scottish team including Adam Hastings, Darcy Graham and Zander Fagerson.

Fran Long, Home Manager at Murrayside, said: “Everyone at Murrayside knows how much Ann loves rugby, and our team members love chatting to her about who she thinks will win each match.

“We are always looking for new ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives, and to support them to continue to enjoy their hobbies and passions. We have a whole host of sport-loving residents at the home, and the Six Nations is always a time of excitement here.

“Ann has astounded us with her guesses so far, which have been spot on every time, and residents can’t wait to watch the France v Scotland match this weekend and see if she’s right again!”

Murrayside care home has been specially designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and has its own cinema, hair salon and café.
