Edinburgh pensioner hurt in hit and run as police appeal to trace silver Jaguar

Police have launched an appeal to trace the driver of a silver Jaguar involved in a serious hit and run of a pensioner in Edinburgh.

The 70-year-old was struck by at least one car on Gorgie Road near the junction of Robertson Avenue on the evening of Friday, September 3, leaving him with several injuries.

Two vehicles, a black BMW and the Jaguar stopped to come to the man's aid, however the driver of the silver car sped off before officers arrived shortly after 7:55pm.

The man was later transferred to hospital for treatment by ambulance crews after being assessed at the scene.

However officers are now keen to speak to the driver of the Jaguar in connection with the incident.

They have asked anyone in the area or with car dash cam footage to come forward and share it with officers as soon as possible.

Constable Denise Gall, of Dalkeith Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch. In particular, if anyone has a dash cam device, please check your footage as your images could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3131 of 3 September, 2021.”
