Edinburgh pensioner fighting for life and two more hospitalised in horror crash

An 87-year-old pensioner has been left in a 'critical' condition after being involved in a serious road crash on Sunday (October 24).

Police are now appealing for information after a number of people had to be taken to hospital following the incident in Edinburgh.

Officers have reported that the collision between two cars took place shortly after 4.14pm on Sunday, with the crash involving a Nissan Juke and a Volvo V40.

Emergency services had rushed to the scene on Seafield Road, where two drivers and a passenger were attended to by medics.

The 87-year-old male passenger of the Volvo was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in a critical condition.

The 85-year-old driver of the Volvo was also taken to hospital by ambulance, where her condition is described as "serious but stable."

The 32-year-old driver of the Nissan has also been said to be "serious but stable."

Following the horror crash, police in Edinburgh have appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Iain McIntyre of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Dalkeith is appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with dash-cam footage to contact 101 quoting reference number 2518 of 24 October.
