Edinburgh pensioner assaulted near Waitrose as store closed off in police probe

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses after a 70 year-old man was assaulted in Morningside in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The attack took place at 12:35am on November 21 at Falcon Avenue next to a branch of Waitrose - causing the store and the street to be taped off by police while an initial investigation took place.

The man was treated at hospital after suffering a facial injury and officers are now appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard something in that area to come forward.
