Edinburgh park removes 'inappropriate' and 'unpleasant' signs from walled garden

Two signs have been removed from an Edinburgh park after causing upset amongst locals.

This week, a series of blackboards were taken away from Saughton Gardens by the local community group after being branded as "inappropriate".

On the sign, the author had detailed how they felt the need to campaign to "protect their rights" and asked others to join websites such as the LGB Alliance.

Sites such as the LGB Alliance openly detail that they support the rights of those who are lesbian, gay and bisexual, but not transgender.

The paragraph then continued to state that they are "being silenced" because they are women.

In a post, the 'Friends of Saughton Gardens" group stated that they had removed the sign, a move that was strongly agreed with by local residents.

Responding to the shocking sign, one user said: "I'd be very disappointed if that was allowed to stay in the park to be honest."

Another replied: "Glad it has been removed as the park should be welcoming to all."

Many more residents agreed with the comments, as another added: "Not really appropriate for a park I feel.

"Definitely don't want that to come back. Thanks. The park should be a welcoming space for all."
