Edinburgh Ocean Terminal will be transformed for Fortnite-style foam dart battle

A Foam Dart Battle Royale is coming to Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal on Saturday August 27.

The event is for all members of the family over the age of six and organisers say they will be bringing to life games from the infamous Fortnite computer game. This means that participants will be able to look for chests, collect virtual money and build shelters.

Players have been asked to bring their own blasters to the event and to ensure that they mark all of their belongings with their name. Organisers add that 30,000 rounds of ammunition and Rival rounds will be supplied on site.

Although those with alternative foam dart guns have been asked to check that their models will be permitted. Nerf MEGAs are allowed but those behind the event say that they will not be providing ammo for the blaster.

On the event, advertisers said: “FDT are taking over Ocean Terminal Mall on Saturday the 27th of August for Battle Royale Five, where we will be bringing games from the ever popular Fortnite computer game to life. Players will be able to search for chests, collect v-bucks and even build cover!

“This event is suitable for everyone aged six and over – Mums and Dads are encouraged to join in!

“Anyone under 14 must have an adult on site and available, either playing or spectating. This is not a creche so please do not head off to see a movie/have dinner while your child is taking part in the event!

“Please bring along your blasters (we do not provide these) and make sure you write your name on all blasters and attachments – anything that belongs to you, write your name on it

“Modded blasters are permitted but the Feet Per Second limit is 100fps Max (not average). We will have a chronometer on site to check any blasters.

“We have 30,000 darts and also Rival rounds for you so please do not bring any.

“NOTE – Nerf MEGAs are welcome – we will not be providing these so please bring your own ammo and ensure they are marked up as yours!

“Any other type of dart/brand must be discussed in advance – get in touch to avoid disappointment on the night.”

It is understood that free parking will be available for the event at the South end of Ocean Terminal with check in opening at 6:45pm. The battle royale will last from 8:00-10:00pm with a half an hour safety briefing taking place at 7:30pm prior to the event.

Those looking to register will be able to at the Boardwalk roller park in the old “New Look” unit. Organisers ask that everyone ensures that all of their Nerf gear is marked with their name or initials and say that protective eyewear must be worn by all players and that pairs will be on sale at £5 a pop on the night.
