Edinburgh nightclub The Hive reopening as fully-seated cocktail bar with food next week

The (ahem) iconic experience of a night out at Hive has officially changed forever as the Edinburgh nightclub prepares to reopen its doors next week for the first time in months due to lockdown.

But forget getting your face painted, spilling jugs of technicolour 'cocktails' on the dancefloor and inevitably losing a mate in the vast space - as the cheap and cheerful nightclub is reopening as a sit-down bar on Monday 31 August.

Making the announcement on Facebook last night the club said: "Guess who's back... back again... Hive is Back...tell a friend."

The city centre club will now be open from 6pm to 3am and will be strictly seating only (with tables up to 4, 6 and 8 people) and have zero music playing in line with government guidelines (there'll be no Paramore blasting we're afraid).

But wait for it - there's NEW DECOR (no orange walls?!), 'games at your table' and a whole new menu of premium cocktails and specialist drinks. Could this be the end of jugs of 'Jelly Baby'?

A range of snacks will also be available so you can grab a munch on the now table-serviced (no dancing) dancefloor.

A one way system and social distancing measures will be in place as well as hand sanitiser and 'regular cleaning of areas'.

Pre-booking for tables will be available from 6pm today - head to their Facebook to find out more.
